After our rotomolding equipment was damaged in a 2022 fire these canoes have been on a production hiatus. We have been working hard for the past year to get new machinery in action and have spent the last months building SP3 orders for overseas shipments and our network of authorized retailers. What is SP3? It’s a shorthand for our rotomolded plastic canoe material: triple layer superlinear polyethylene. The hull is composed of a centre layer of buoyant poly foam sandwiched by two thick solid layers of poly. The hull is trimmed with vinyl gunnels and decks, webbed ash seat, dished ash yoke and straight ash carry handles plus rope grab handles.
Our SP3 canoes are our most affordable and most durable products. Our SP3 line is comprised of three lengths of the ever popular and super versatile Prospector model: Prospector 15 SP3, Prospector 16 SP3 and Prospector 17 SP3. These boats appeal to camps, canoe rental companies, outfitters, as well as families, cottagers, whitewater paddlers and anyone else looking for a super rugged canoe they don’t have to baby. So what’s the downside? There isn’t one! Unless… you’re portaging. Or, you need to cartop the canoe by yourself. These canoes are robust and they are heavier than any of the composite canoes we build. Keep that in mind if you intend to carry these for long distances.
